There are nine recreational terrains in Ivano-Frankivsk region, West Ukraine. Among them is
the village of Knyazhdvir situated near the foot of The Carpathians, on the river Prut, 11 km from Kolomyya.
The historical scripts about Knyazhdvir are known from XV century, the first of them — since 1067. There was Halician Princes' court right here.
Princes' court is Knyazhyy Grad in the Ukrainian language.
That is because today Knyazhyy Grad GuestHouse is located in this place!
So, the history tells that "...in 1648-1654s in the woods of Knyazhdvir salt was made", with the description of three salteries. Next to one of them was the Princes' court.
Later on, under Austrian rule the village was in Pechenizhyn dictrict, under Polish rule — in Kolomyya dictrict.

So, Knyazhyy Grad GuestHouse is nestled in the unique historical place next to the only one in Europe Yew Nature Reserve in the village of Knyazhdvir.
Knyazhdvir Nature Reserve is one of the biggest reserves of yew (Taxus baccata). Those trees have been growing here since prehistorical times. Any tree can't be compared to it, as yew don't rot in the water. That's why it was used as the timber for ships, underwater constructions, bows and expensive furniture in ancient times.
You can examine The Nature Museum and get the finest impression from virgin nature here. |
